When Chuck and Joyce chose a Glenridge Club Home, they had a long list of good reasons: security, healthcare, welcoming neighbors … and a two-car garage with plenty of space for Chuck’s small – but sophisticated – custom silver jewelry workshop.
Chuck’s jewelry-making hobby came about by chance when he inherited a set of tools from his father. While he had always been creative – and spent much of his career managing, supervising and producing in art-related fields – it wasn’t until after retirement that he had more time to explore his own artistic pursuits.
“It’s become sort of a passion,” he says. “I enjoy taking raw material and turning it into something beautiful.”
From Southwest-inspired designs that draw from the Gregorys’ experience living in Arizona to more contemporary pieces, every accessory Chuck creates is custom-made for the person who wears it. “I design around their personality, when they’re going to wear it, and what they’re going to wear it with. If I’m using a stone that has an unusual shape or matrix, I design around those elements.”
When he’s not busy in the workshop, Chuck and Joyce enjoy taking advantage of all the opportunities The Glenridge offers – from yoga classes to long walks around the 150-acre campus. “We love the atmosphere out here,” says Joyce. “We have wetlands behind us, a pond out in front. It’s just so peaceful.”

Adds Chuck: “To be able to come here and thrive, rather than sitting at home – that was important to us. We’ve always been very active, and we’re going to be involved for the rest of our lives in a community with caring, engaged people.”
